What’s in YOUR Contract?

Have you read your Policies & Procedures?

I shouldn’t be amazed that so many people sign up for income opportunities without reading the Company’s Policies and Procedures first because  I didn’t either UNTIL I got educated through Mentoring For Free (download the free e-book and start your own education).

I don’t care whether it’s MLM, affiliate marketing, surveys, pay per click, a store, adsense …. cell phone, cable — WHATEVER (as my niece says).

The Policies and Procedures (P&P’s) is JUST ONE of  the LEGAL

contracts between you and the Company you are going to represent.  They are supposed to protect BOTH parties, the Company AND YOU.  What you may not know is that in most cases the longer the P&P’s are, the “more gotchas” there are FOR the Company and AGAINST YOU, the distributor.

As explained by Bob and Anna Bassett, on Saturday Night’s July 19th Mentoring for Free Skills Call, we tend to “throw all common sense out the window” when looking at an income opportunity.  We let our excitement cloud our judgment and logical reasoning, click the box saying we’ve read them and agree then we sign up.

Bob and Anna made these suggestions on the call and I’ll add a few more also:

1. Look at the length and readability. They suggest if longer than 6 pages – RUN!!  Rod Cook of MLMWatchdog fame says 7-15 pages, after that RUN!!!!!!
2. If the P&P’s aren’t on the site, ASK for them. It’s your right and  you could regret it later. Some P&P’s even hold YOU, as the recruiter, responsible for the new rep receiving that information.  Check your P&P’s.  I’ve seen it written in some.
3. Search for keywords such as:  Termination, non-renewal, ongoing responsibility, training responsibilities, recruiting obligations
4. If they are long, start at the back and read forward.  You’d be amazed at the circles some of these writers can draw. Remember, the longer they are, the more chance of loopholes (for the company).

Protect yourself - don’t worry about the Company – they’ve protected themselves by writing all these crazy loopholes.
