One of the key requirements to building a success home based business is persistence, that intense desire to carry on despite the odds, despite the criticism, despite the ‘nay-sayers’, despite the setbacks.
The first time I read Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”, I honestly did not ‘get it’. In fact, I began to think it must be written in a foreign language. However, after several more reads, I began to understand the principals laid out in his book.

4 Steps to Develop persistence:
- A definite purpose backed by burning desire for its fulfillment.

3. A mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences, including negative suggestions of relatives, friends and acquaintances.
In Network Marketing, those people are typically labeled as ‘the dream stealers’. Unfortunately family, friends and co-workers can mean well in their criticism, but oft times it’s not positive. Some may not have the same belief as you, in that you know you can build a great home business. Others may simply be suffering from fear that you will succeed. Misery loves company.
4. A friendly alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one to follow through with both plan and purpose.
I am fortunate to be a part of two great Mastermind groups, a generic group who studies “Think and Grow Rich” weekly as part of the 30 Day Mental Cleanse, and another, being my team in my Network Marketing company. Both groups offer the support and accountability necessary to reach my desired goals and that of each other’s.
Having a definite purpose, the end goal, always in sight, a desire so strong nothing will deter you, fueled by persistence, will get you there. Being part of a mastermind group of other like minded individuals will keep you there.
