What’s the picture we see in our heads when we think of marketing products/services?

In traditional sales, what does the sales manager say?

1.  Be aggressive, be a warrior, dominate the opportunity and impose your will

2.  Be tenacious. Do NOT EVER accept "NO" for an answer.  If you keep talking long enough, your prospect will eventually give in.  If for some reason you don’t close the deal the first time,  keep at him/her.

3.  You’ve got to learn all the ‘closing’ techniques, be a slick talker.  There’s a response for EVERY objection.

4.  You’ve got to have nerves of steel.

5.  Forget Fear – fear is for lazy, weak people.

6.  Always be in prospect mode.

7.  Keep your mind singularly focused.  You’ve got to sell, sell, sell, sell.  Don’t let anyone get in your way.

Let’s see, out of the list above, which is only a start, any or all of the 7 would have taken me out of the home based business before I could ever sign on the dotted line.  For one thing, no one likes this approach done to them, why on earth would it be ok to do it to someone else?

As Harry Browne says in his book "Secret of Selling Anything"

Selling is nothing like that.  But thousands of writers, talkers and hard-driving sales managers have made it seem that way.

Over the course of the next few posts, we’ll talk about HOW you can be successful in Network Marketing without being a ’slimey’ salesman.
