I saw the following posted in a group on Facebook not long ago:
I have learned so much this past year!! MLM is such a great business and alows us to be home with our families more! I have also learned that Autoship kils MLMs sometimes which gets me so pumped i found one that has no autoship!!
We all talk to people who want something but aren’t willing to pay the price, but it’s the regular/consistent movement of products/services out to end users that is the life blood of any legitimate company. Unfortunately the commenter is in a business that only moves people and money.
What do I mean by that?
If there is NOTHING being moved but people and their money, then more than likely the opportunity is on the fringes of being a Ponzi scheme, NOT a viable business.
I’ll say it again, because it bears repeating for some………. People must understand that all the profit to pay your monthly residual commissions from any company, from a legal company that is, comes from one thing: the sale of a product/service to someone. The difference between the cost of the product, plus the overhead, equals the amount of commission that they can pay you. This is true both in Traditional business and Network Marketing.
I see all these “Free to join, Free to earn” online businesses…… Someone, somewhere has GOT TO BE SPENDING MONEY for YOU TO EARN an income. Money does not just flow ONE WAY…Out to YOU!
Traditional Business: You pay for the building, the lights, the telephone, the products or tools to provide a service, and of course there are many other ‘hidden costs’ . Money is still going out before any comes back to you.
Network Marketing: Most generally you pay a small fee to become a representative and in most cases you are expected to purchase products/services on an ongoing basis to maintain your eligibility to earn on the movement of products/services to others.
If you don’t want to use the products/services of the company you are looking at, DON’T JOIN THAT COMPANY!!!!! If you can’t afford the monthly required autoship, then maybe you need a part time job, not a Network Marketing business.
Both a part-time job AND building a Network Marketing business TAKE TIME EACH DAY!
What best serves your need for that TIME?
A part-time job will bring instant rewards and cash flow…. Network Marketing, you’ve got to be able to sustain while you build your self, your skill level and you business.

It’s sad to hear people say that Autoships KILL Network Marketing. From the first day someone gave someone else one item in exchange for another…… a business transaction was created. Movement of products/services WILL always be the mainstay of business…. any business, whether you are trading a pig for a TV, flipping burgers, the CEO of some company or building a Network Marketing Business……
To YOUR Success

Hi Jennifer, I follow you on twitter so decided to click through the link to your website just to check it out and connect with you. Great post! It is definitely true that autoship is one of the main things that keep the network marketing wheels moving. I also echo your statememt: “If you don’t want to use the products/services of the company you are looking at, DON’T JOIN THAT COMPANY!!!!! If you can’t afford the monthly required autoship, then maybe you need a part time job, not a Network Marketing business.” Say it again!!!

Hi Afibah,
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts…. and even though some may think it a harsh statement…..I think I WILL say it again ……

Harsh? Perhaps more “brutally honest!”
Great to be connected Afibah. Come back any time.

Hi Jennifer.
I had to stop to comment. You are so correct. Many want something for nothing. If I join for Free and 1000 other people join for Free…and no one upgrades in the program to make themselves eligible for any commission level…the obvious is that NO ONE will be getting any MONEY…the program will be broke and will not be able to pay anyone any amount of cash.
Like you said there has to be an exchange…an exchange of time and an exchange of cash…Autoship is this case.
“Movement of products/services WILL always be the mainstay of business”
Thanks for sharing this.

Jennifer it is normal to have a basic requirement (autoship in network marketing) – you will not likely find any agency for which ever product, where the supplier will not request a minimum performance from the agent who wants the job – even if it is an independent one……….
People who have a problem with this topic are not business minded!
Thanks for this insightful post.
